How to protect printing plates during storage and loading
In the printing and printing process, the printing plate is affected by physical factors, chemical factors, process conditions and process operations, and the printing plate is well protected, which will reduce the printing durability, shorten the service life, and affect the quality of the printing.
When storing the printing plates, to protect the printing plates, the operator should pay attention to the following points:
1. Anti-oxidation. After the printing is completed, a layer of hydrophilic colloid (such as gum arabic) should be evenly coated on the plate in a timely manner and keep the plate dry. If there is no protective layer, the plate surface is directly exposed to the air, the plate surface is easily oxidized, and the generated oxide is lipophilic, making the plate dirty.
2. Anti-friction. When storing the printing plate, the plate should face up. If the two printing plates are relatively overlapped, the plates should be facing inward, and the two plates should be separated by a piece of paper to prevent scratching each other.
3. Anti-photolysis. Must be stored under low light (preferably yellow light). Under strong light such as an incandescent lamp, the photosensitive layer will undergo photolysis.
4. Protect from moisture. The high relative humidity of the air will cause the electrochemical corrosion of the printing plate, destroy the non-graphic parts and change its hydrophilic and oleophobic properties. Moreover, the photosensitive drug film has strong hygroscopicity, will naturally age, and reduce the sensitivity. The temperature is 20 ℃ 2 ℃, the relative humidity is 60% ~ 65% is appropriate.
5. Prevent acid and alkali. Most of the commonly used printing plate bases are selected from zinc or aluminum. They can react with both acid and alkali.
6. Anti-horse shoe mark. When holding the plate, please handle it gently, do not curl it arbitrarily, to avoid causing horseshoe marks, make the plate partially uneven, and damage the graphic parts.
During the edition process, the following points should be noted when protecting the printing plate:
1. Prevent creases, horseshoe marks and scratches.
2. The pad under the printing plate should be flat to avoid uneven pressure.
3. When pulling the plate, all the plate clamp screws must be loosened to prevent the plate from deforming. Do not use excessive force to prevent the printing plate from tearing.
4. The screw of the plate clamp must be tightened to prevent it from loosening and damaging the printing press and the printing plate.
When printing, protecting the printing plate can be done from the following aspects:
1. Properly control the PH value of the wetting fluid. Wetting fluid is too acidic and will destroy the hydrophilic salt layer. The acidity of the fountain solution should be reduced without affecting the stability of the blank.
2. Correctly adjust the pressure of the ink roller, water roller and plate cylinder. Too much pressure or too little pressure will easily cause the printing plate to wear, which will cause the ink affinity performance to be weak and dirty.
3. Correctly adjust the pressure between the plate cylinder and blanket cylinder.
4. Reasonably choose the material and thickness of the lining.
5. Control the ink volume and water volume of the layout.
