Security burglary bags use NFC tags for extra security

Recently, Ginstr, a German mobile application and software company, and Packaging Horizons, a US manufacturer of security security bags, have collaborated on the development of security-proof bags based on Near Field Communication (NFC) RFID technology for tracking forensic evidence or laboratory specimens and other important items.
This solution, called Alert Mobile Security, is used to manage items with higher security requirements. The user can use an NFC mobile phone or a high-frequency RFID reader to read the tag ID number built into the security bag. Then, the user can view the relevant content in the Ginstr application on the smart phone. In addition, the user can also access data on the server from the computer's Ginstr management software.
Ginstr's design aims to eliminate the need for staff writing. Users can use company applications to create GPS-based time stamps and electronic signatures, and achieve greater productivity. Markus Semm, a developer of Ginstr mobile applications, said that about two years ago, the company began offering customers NFC-based solutions that enabled users to read data using NFC phones or readers.
The Berlin-based company has launched some RFID solutions in the fields of hospital bed inventory tracking, library checkout, and chemical plant attendance tracking. At the same time, it also introduced RFID applications for security personnel tracking, maintenance and inspection of fire extinguishers or smoke detectors, and home health nurse management. In these scenarios, customers can purchase equipment at a fixed fee and pay monthly cloud-based software. The software can also be integrated with the user's existing management software.
Semm said: "It turns out that the NFC feature is quite popular. Customers can use an easier way to read or send data."
For example, Semm has developed a solution, Avantclean, in the cleaning industry, which uses Ginstr smartphone software to read and manage NFC data. In this case, the Procter & Gamble Company can give the housekeeping staff an Android smart phone and paste an NFC tag in the room to be cleaned. The unique ID number corresponding to each tag can be searched for the cleaning action that the room needs to perform on a specific date.
When housekeeping personnel use NFC phones to read tags, the apps on the phone will show what needs to be done on that day (eg, cleaning the chairs of the conference room). In this way, domestic workers do not need to remember what they need to do each day. He only needs to simply swipe the label. After completing the job as prompted, housekeeping personnel need to brush the label in the room again. In this way, the manager can confirm that the task is completed and the time it takes.
Semm said that a construction company in the Stuttgart region also used the Ginstr NFC application to confirm and locate employees on the subway project site. He explained that since there are local bombs that have not been detonated in World War II, it is important to monitor the position of each employee. In addition, a wind turbine maintenance company is using the Ginstr NFC application to create electronic records of staff performing work.
The Alert Mobile Security solution is Ginstr's latest product. The company will sell the system in Europe, and Packaging Horizons will sell it in the United States. Packaging Horizons sells plastic security bags to protect cash, exhibits, documents and other items. These bags range in size from 6 inches * 9 inches to 15 inches * 20 inches. The bag is sealed with adhesive tape; if someone tries to open the bag, the color of the tape changes and the "AlertVoid" character appears. John Gregor, general manager of Packaging Horizons, said that while ordinary security bags also provide tamper-proofing capabilities, they cannot easily record the receipt of items at a specific time. Now, with NFC RFID tags and a mobile phone application, this feature has also become a reality. These tags own and print a unique identifier so that the user can confirm that the tag was never removed from the bag. These data are stored in the memory of the chip, preventing them from being overwritten.
When a user deposits a DNA sample or other item into a security bag, he needs to enter the data into the Alert Mobile Security application and read the tag's ID number using an NFC phone. In this way, other personnel such as investigators or laboratory personnel can read data through software. If the user needs, this software can also be integrated with the user's own evidence management software.
Gregor said that with the cooperation of many potential customers, the use of the scene has become more and more abundant. He said: "Chain of custody is the most common application scenario. Ginstr and Packaging Horizons are marketing in the law enforcement and forensics laboratory industry."
Users can access all Ginstr NFC applications through the Ginstr Launcher app and enjoy a 30-day free trial. Semm said that since Apple is still not using NFC technology, these applications are Android-only.
Ginstr can also create customized software based on customer requirements. The cost of custom software is $899. In addition, if the customer wants to use custom software that has been developed, it only costs $55. (For details, please refer to: )
