Abstract: A technique for processing residual ink remaining on the orifice plate of an ink jet print cartridge due to multiple prints. In a preferred embodiment, the ink jet print cartridge is provided with an ink receiving material such as an absorbent pad. The mounting of the absorbent pad allows the service station wiper to scrape residual ink from the nozzle plate and distribute residual ink along the absorbent pad. The pad absorbs ink. The ink separated from the print cartridge basically enters the absorbent pad. The outer surface of the absorbent pad dries quickly, so it is not easy to have a bonding area on the absorbent pad that can bind the fiber and reduce print quality.
