1. Fixed oil basin and oil bowl
Most pad printers, especially large pad printers, generally use fixed oil pans and oil pans. The mechanical construction of these pad printers is simple but solid. The entrance and exit of the print head is driven by the slide assembly. Due to the impact generated by the print head slide assembly, vibration of the print head is inevitably generated, thereby limiting the printing speed of the body.

2. Active oil basin and oil bowl
The heads of movable oil pans and oil pans only move up and down, there is no mechanical impact, and the vibration of the print heads is also reduced. Therefore, most high-speed pad printers use movable oil pans and oil pans.

Printing process
Pad printers can be divided into open-type oil pans and sealed oil cup systems. The plastic head strokes work the same on both systems.

Open type oil basin
(1) When the print head is moved forward, the oiled rod fills the patterned etching plate with ink.

(2) When the print head is moved backwards, the scraper scrapes the excess ink on the steel plate, leaving only the ink in the pattern-etched portion.

2. Sealed oil cup system
(1) When the oil cup is pushed forward, the ink in the cup is sent to the etched position on the printing plate, and the ink is filled therein.

(2) When the oil cup is returned, the ceramic ring of the oil cup will be similar to the gravure printing in the principle of transfer printing with a squeegee. The tools include a silicone pad printing head, a printed printing plate (steel or fiber), and ink, which can be printed. Made a variety of very fine lines, fonts and patterns, and even four-color screen image. Regardless of whether the printed surface is concave, convex or irregular, it can still print the desired effect. For example, printing a four-color logo on a golf ball is one of the specialties of the printing machine. The excess ink is generally scraped away.

The five main elements of printing
1. Sealed oil cup: It combines the functions of sealed ink storage and excess ink scraping.

2. Printing rubber head: This is the medium that transfers the ink from the printing plate to the surface of the product.

3. Printed plates: Etched print patterns.

4. Ink: Determine the color according to the print product requirements.

5. Pad printer: Perform transfer printing.

The sealed oil cup combines the functions of sealed ink storage and ink scraping. The ink is sealed between the surface of the printing plate and the edge of the oil cup ceramic ring. The ink is sealed in the oil cup, minimizing the chance of exposing the ink to the air, reducing the amount of ink volatilization, maintaining the stability of the ink concentration, and thus ensuring a stable printing effect. In addition, the blade of the cup ceramic ring needs to be hard and pointed, so Kennedy Engineering Co., Ltd. uses the hardest material among the ceramics, and with the 0.25mm thin steel plate, the oil cup can perform its maximum function. The diameter of the sealed oil cup is 60-195mm, which is suitable for general printing purposes.

The key to choosing a print head and pad printing ink
To get clear and vivid printing effects, be careful when selecting the print head:

1. Try to choose circular or conical printing heads.

2. Try to choose a larger angle head.

3. If the product can withstand pressure, a harder print head should be used because the harder rubber head has a longer life and can print a clearer pattern. A variety of pad printing inks are flooding the market. Screen printing inks are also used for pad printing. Good pad printing inks must have the following characteristics:

(1) Strong adhesion to printed surfaces.

(2) Good fluidity. Some inks are slurried and cannot flow in the oil pan or oil pan.

(3) When the thinned water evaporates with the ink, it can exert its viscosity.

(4) The fine pigment will make the gloss more visible and reduce the transparency. Normal printing ink thickness is 7μm.

(5) The ink gloss cannot be changed by the printing surface.

(6) Can dry quickly but does not affect its stickiness.

If the ink is too thick, the plate can be difficult to clean, causing electrostatic problems (hairline); if the ink is too thin, the transparency is increased, and the transfer head is also difficult to transfer the ink.

Since there are many different inks on the market, it is difficult to define the time and frequency of adding thinning water or slow drying water. We can only rely on the observation of the printing effect to decide. For this reason, the firm launched a series of scientific equipment, such as ink concentration tester, to measure the ink concentration.

The special single-product market is rapidly expanding. Carefully tailoring machine design and printing software equipment packages are the inevitable requirements of the market. For special product markets, it is necessary to conduct in-depth studies to understand the situation, so as to make corresponding printing machines and related printing software systems.
