3D printing innovation made in China

"3D printing" is a popular name, and the academic name is "rapid prototyping technology", also known as "additive manufacturing technology". This technology is based on the three-dimensional model data of the object, through the accumulation of materials through the molding equipment, to make a physical model, or even directly manufacture parts or molds, thereby shortening the product development cycle and reducing production costs. In the middle, even the assembly procedure is not needed. Not only accelerated production, but also expanded the production space. So, how is the development of 3D printing in China?

On Kickstarter, the most recent 3D printer The Form 1, which claims to be capable of "high-definition printing", raised US $ 100,000 in funds within 2.5 hours after the project was launched, reaching the financing goal. Now the project financing amount has exceeded 500,000, and breaking millions is not impossible.

Not only that, MarkerBot and Deezmaker have set up physical stores selling 3D printers on the east and west coasts of the United States, respectively, and technology media such as "Connect" magazine, Ars Technica and so on will report on the 3D printers. All this shows that, at least in the United States, 3D printers have formed a boom. Both the media and some people are very concerned about the development in this field.

From the "Tianjin 2012 Summer Davos Forum" to the recently closed "Zhejiang New Business Forum", they all mentioned the "3D printing" technology. 3D printing, which was put on the "Industrial Revolution" hat by the British "Economist", has received much attention in China, but the actual situation is that it will take time for 3D printing technology to be widely used in China.

Later came up: some domestic equipment reached the level of Europe and the United States

Hangzhou Xianlin 3D Technology Co., Ltd., which is located in Xiasha Industrial Zone, Hangzhou, is known as the 3D printing company with the strongest comprehensive strength in China. At present, First 3D has more than a dozen models of 3D printers and masters six production processes.

Huang Xianqing, deputy general manager and first secretary of Xianlin 3D, told reporters that 3D printing is printing piece by piece, and then superimposed together to become a three-dimensional object. To put it simply, the points are stacked into faces, and then the faces are stacked into solids. 3D printing technology has a long history. In 1986, the United States 3D Systems launched the first industrial 3D printing equipment; China began to study 3D printing in 1994, Beijing Longyuan Company successfully developed an AFS laser rapid prototyping machine in 1995, and then Huazhong University of Science and Technology Developed SLS rapid prototyping machine.

Today, domestic 3D printing has formed an industry. Panasonic Household Appliances (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., Wanxiang Group, Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute, Aerospace Materials and Technology Research Institute, Sinoma International Co., Ltd. and other well-known domestic enterprises are all first-time 3D customers. The samples developed by Panasonic Hangzhou Service Co., Ltd. are all 3D printed, but they had to be done in Japan before. Now they can be done directly in Hangzhou.

In the first three-dimensional exhibition hall, various forms of artwork, toys, and movie character models are placed, all of which are finished products printed with 3D printers. Among them, "Sixteen Great Hans" specially produced for Xi'an Shiyuan Cultural and Creative Co., Ltd. is a triumphant work of the first three-dimensional. The first three-dimensional precision of the local data collection of the prototype of "Sixteen Grades of Han Dynasty" has reached 0.01 mm, and the precision of the mold has reached 0.2 ~ 0.4 mm.

However, the existing equipment of the first three-dimensional is mainly made from Europe, America and other countries. A device imported from German EOS company is priced at nearly 4 million yuan. It is a high-end 3D printer based on high-performance materials (plastics and metals).

In fact, after nearly 20 years of research and development, domestic 3D printing equipment has also continuously made breakthroughs. The 1.2-meter by 1.2-meter "stereo printer" developed by the research team of Professor Shi Yusheng of Huazhong University of Science and Technology is currently the world's largest forming space China's rapid manufacturing equipment far exceeds the level of similar foreign equipment, and therefore won the second prize of the 2011 National Technical Invention Award.

Huang Zhi, an important backbone of Professor Shi Yusheng's research team, told reporters that Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. uses this technology to produce a six-cylinder engine head, and can form a four-valve six-cylinder engine head sand core in one week. With the traditional sand casting trial production method, only the design and manufacturing cycle of the tooling mold usually takes about 5 months.
