Furniture formaldehyde exceeds the standard dealer refused to pay

Mr. Li purchased a full set of new furniture for his new home. However, after moving into his new home for 4 months, Mr. Li was diagnosed with leukemia. After testing, Mr. Li’s formaldehyde in the air exceeded 8 times in the home, and the purchased furniture was tested to exceed the standard. The dealer only agreed to return the goods, but refused to pay compensation. Mr. Li immediately slammed the furniture market to the Shijingshan court.

Mr. Li sued the court and said that on December 24, 2011 and January 12, 2012, Mr. Li and his family went to a furniture building materials market twice and purchased two sets of hanging cabinets, as well as a TV cabinet and a shoe cabinet. It cost 6700 yuan. A few days later, the furniture was delivered to the new home and installed. However, Mr. Li always felt that the home he sent had a strong pungent smell, and the air inside the room was also polluted.

To be on the safe side, Mr. Li opened all the windows in the house for ventilation. After more than a month, in March 2012, Mr. Li moved into a new home. However, the new family has just lived for 4 months. On July 7, 2012, Mr. Li felt unwell and had a fever of nearly 40 °C. He went to Shijingshan Hospital for treatment. After that, he was twice on July 23 and July 30, respectively. Go to the hospital. After various tests, Mr. Li was diagnosed with acute leukemia on August 19.

In October 2012, Mr. Li contacted a testing unit through the industrial and commercial office. After testing, Mr. Li’s home environment exceeded the standard by 8 times. Subsequently, Mr. Li sent the purchased TV cabinet door to the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for inspection. The test results showed that the samples were unqualified and the formaldehyde exceeded the standard. With several test results, Mr. Li and his family found the building materials market and asked the other party to explain and compensate. However, the building materials market only agrees to return, and does not agree to any compensation. Many times the negotiations failed, Mr. Li appealed the building materials market to the Shijingshan court.

At present, the case is under further investigation.
