The new model of “Shunde City” innovative industry leads the new pattern of Huazhong home furnishing industry

On June 25, Premier Li Keqiang chaired a State Council executive meeting to outline policy measures aimed at promoting industrial transfer and restructuring key industries. During the meeting, Li emphasized that industrial migration should not be forced by the government or imposed on enterprises. Instead, it must align with economic development laws, offering low-cost and convenient business environments to naturally attract companies to relocate. This strategy aims to guide eastern industries toward central and western regions in an orderly manner. Later, on August 1st, at the "2014 Central Industrial Economy and China Home Furnishing Industry Transfer Summit Forum" in Yiyang, Hunan, former Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Long Yongtu highlighted the significance of Shunde City's relocation to Yiyang. He stated that this move would create major opportunities for industrial layout adjustments and transfers in central and western China. It would also support regional development, help Hunan upgrade its industries, promote urbanization, reduce poverty, expand employment, and foster new economic growth areas. The project is seen as vital for elevating Hunan’s economy to higher levels. Shunde City, located at the intersection of Heshan District and Yifang New District in Yiyang, Hunan, was established in 2012 with a total investment of 9.5 billion yuan. Designed as a comprehensive home industry city, it integrates R&D, manufacturing, exhibition, retail, logistics, and industrial services. Supported by coastal industries from Guangdong, Shunde, and Shenzhen, the city aims to become the largest home culture-centered industrial hub in Central China. As a key provincial project, Shunde City covers new industrialization, modern service industries, industrial transfer, and urbanization. It hosts the country's most advanced home brand living museum and large-scale furniture and building materials exhibitions. In April, Deputy Governor Zhang Jianfei visited the site and praised its achievements, noting that it fills a gap in Hunan’s manufacturing sector and will serve as a new economic driver. The rise of Shunde City is reshaping the home furnishing industry in Central China. Initially seen as a bold dream, the project has now gained momentum, supported by provincial leaders. It aims to build a “factory + store” model, enhancing urban residents' quality of life. With strategic planning and resource integration, Shunde Furniture is evolving from sales-driven to industry-led, strengthening its brand presence. Hunan’s location, with its central logistics network and accessibility, makes it ideal for industrial transfer. Once completed, Shunde City will become a major hub integrating design, manufacturing, and distribution. It is expected to fill a gap in Central China’s industrial structure, supporting regional economic growth and creating a vibrant home industry ecosystem. Under provincial leadership, Shunde City has made significant progress, attracting over 5,000 furniture brands. Deng Zhenhua, head of the project, emphasizes that future competition lies in resource integration, with Shunde City leading the way in transforming the home industry through innovation and collaboration. The project is set to redefine the market landscape in Hunan and beyond, driving sustainable growth and industrial development.
