Surface treatment of panel furniture

1. Natural Veneer: This is one of the most premium options, featuring real wood slices that are applied to the surface of the furniture. Common wood types include cherry, maple, white birch, red and white peony, ash, white and red oak, teak, huanghuali, red pear, walnut, white shadow wood, red shadow wood, red sandalwood, and ebony. The process involves cutting solid wood into thin chips (about 2mm thick), attaching them with special adhesives, and then sealing with lacquer and UV curing. Natural veneer offers a smooth touch, with visible grain patterns and a thick, natural feel. You can often spot a 1mm edge at the corners of the panels. This type of finish is considered top-tier and usually comes at a higher price.

2. Composite Veneer: This technique involves layering different types of wood in various colors and pressing them together under high pressure. Once bonded, the surface is sliced to create a new veneer that combines multiple wood species and colors, offering a unique visual effect.

3. Wood-Grain Laminate: This is a more affordable option compared to natural veneer, typically costing about 1/3 to 1/2 of the price. However, it's more prone to scratches, lifting, or peeling over time, making it less durable than other finishes.

4. Plastic Veneer: Made from petrochemical products, this type of veneer is printed with wood grain and decorative patterns using a printing machine. The backside is coated with rubber and then pressed into shape using precision tools. It offers a cost-effective solution with a realistic wood appearance.

5. Fireboard Veneer: Known for its wear resistance and heat tolerance, fireboard is commonly used for panel furniture, especially in kitchens and high-traffic areas. It comes in various designs, including wood grain, plain surfaces, and stone patterns, providing both functionality and style.
