Hyosung Korea recently developed and marketed a hot drinking PET bottle, hoping to increase sales of its polyester products in the winter.
Hyosung Company claims that this new product can block oxygen and protect vitamin C in beverages, effectively preventing oxidation of the contents during the shelf life. These characteristics can maintain the unique flavor of the beverage when the temperature reaches 60 degrees Celsius.
At present, the sales season of PET bottles is generally summer, but the successful development of hot drinking PET bottles can create stable demand throughout the year.
In Japan, hot drinking PET bottles show rapid growth. Since its inception in 2000, the average annual growth rate has reached 40-60%. Hyosung plans to sell 7 million hot beverage polyester bottles in the second half of this year. The company’s officials said that it would take a long way to cut the gap between the seasons with this type of product.
Polyester bottle is an important market for Hyosung, and the manufacturer hopes that the new product will help increase sales in the fourth quarter. In the announcement of the third quarter results, Hyosung stated that due to the low demand for PET bottles, the performance of the petrochemical business in the fourth quarter will not allow Hyosung to occupy 55% of the Korean domestic PET market, and plans to launch a polyester beer bottle. . Hyosung Company expressed that it hopes to consolidate its position as Korea's largest polyester bottle manufacturer by developing new technologies such as hot drinking PET bottles and multi-layer polyester beer bottles.
