Shanghai supermarket will be paid for plastic bags next year

The Shanghai Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau has issued a new environmental protection policy: All supermarkets in Shanghai will be paid for plastic bags in the next year. Currently, relevant departments are negotiating with major supermarkets on this matter.
It is understood that the cancellation of the free supply of plastic bags has won the support of the general public. According to a recent survey conducted by the Shanghai Environmental Hotline Network, 90% of the respondents agree that the supply of plastic bags is paid for, and it is hoped that the paid plastic bags will meet environmental protection requirements and be degradable.
Paid use of plastic bags is part of the six major governance projects for the new three-year environmental protection plan in Shanghai. In addition, the “six small pieces” of supply simplifying packaging and canceling hotel rooms were also included on the agenda.
