DuPont Launches Toughening Agent for PLA

DuPont introduced DuPont Biomax Strong, a new plastic additive. Mainly to improve the application of bio-based and biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA) packaging.

PLA is very popular in the packaging industry because it is a biodegradable material. Although this material is biodegradable, its performance has many disadvantages compared with conventional plastic materials, such as: polylactic acid has a large brittleness and a very low dimensional stability.

Biomax Strong additive is mainly to improve the toughness of PLA. Compared to other tougheners, Biomax Strong can increase the transparency of containers made of PLA materials, which is exactly what the packaging industry needs. PLA added Biomax Strong additive can meet the needs of various properties of the packaging industry.
