Our factory is the only production unit in Fujian Province that produces 200 liters of medium-opening calcium carbide barrels. It provides packaging drums for the export of J-stones of Sanming Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. in Fujian Province. In the past few years, we have done a lot of work in the implementation of the International Maritime Dangerous Standards and GB325 "200-liter closed steel drum" national standards. Our factory has established a quality assurance system for the export of calcium carbide barrels, using the overall quality management method, strengthening the quality control of the manufacturing process, strict process discipline, and steadily improving the sealing quality. It has passed the performance evaluation of steel drums made by the State Administration of Commodity Inspection in Shanghai and Changzhou twice, and has been recognized by the State Administration of Commodity Inspection.

According to the International Maritime Dangerous Regulations, calcium carbide is a Class II dangerous goods. Its packaging barrels have to be piled, dropped, and airtight. It is required that the barrels of the barrels have high strength, good impact resistance and high sealing performance. At present, the seven-layer round crimping process is often used in the barrel manufacturing of the sealing edge. Our factory also tried the seven-layer round crimping process from the beginning of the year and achieved success. It has been continuously improved and the quality has become more stable. Let's talk about some of our experiences.

First, a reasonable determination of the groove curve of the curling wheel.

It is well known that in order to ensure good sealing performance of the steel barrel crimping, the groove curve of the crimping wheel must be designed and processed. Our factory produces seven layers of crimping and adopts three reels. The sealing seam of the barrel is completed by two devices, a pre-roller and a fully automatic sealing machine. The bottom cover is pre-rolled with glue, and then the sealing is finished on the automatic sealing machine.

We use the involute curve of the pre-reel, the two-wheel and the three-wheel. The pre-rolling wheel width is 3mm, the depth is 2.5mm, the two-wheel width is 9.3mm, the depth is 6mm, and the three-wheel width is 9.8mm. , 5.5mm deep. When prerolling, the shape of R3 is formed, the feed distance of the two wheels is 80% of the total radial feed distance, and the radial feed distance of the third wheel is 20% of the total radial feed distance. The geometry of the hemming wheel should be determined according to the different process conditions of each plant. . Our factory is to determine the size of the three-side crimping wheel according to the width of the flange of the barrel of 18mm and the width of the bottom cover of the folding edge of 31mm. In order to improve the arc transition between the curling circle and the bottom cover, the R3 arc was designed in the outer edge of the sealing tray.

Second, the sealing packing is an important part to ensure the quality of the steel barrel curling.

Our factory has been using Xiamen Kaiyuan Latex Factory for a long time. The sealing glue for steel drums.. The reasonable selection of fillers can remedy some defects in the curling edge and prevent the leakage. The coating process of our factory is carried out on the automatic pre-roller. The main points of the glue coating are:

1 Weld bead should be glued on both sides to ensure the airtightness of the triangle.

2 Apply glue to the edge of the bottom cover and the pre-roll groove. In particular, the glue should be kept full in the pre-rolling groove to ensure that a rubber ring having a diameter of about 1 mm can be formed at the center of the curling at the end of the curling. The steel drum remains sealed when it encounters a bump and the barrel curl is deformed.

3 The bottom cover of the good glue is sealed on the machine when the glue is slightly dry. This is because when the glue is not dry, the adhesive layer is too thin after sealing, which is unfavorable for sealing. Too dry will affect the fluidity, and the seal is also unfavorable.

Third, the impact of welds on the quality of the seal.

The barrel welding of our factory adopts FN1-75 seam welding produced by Shanghai Electric Welder Factory. Since the thickness of the thin plate at the weld is thicker than the other positions of the barrel, leakage is likely to occur there in the seal. In the production process of steel drums, our factory arranged the bead edging treatment. The process requires that the weld be polished and the thickness is consistent with the thickness of the barrel to avoid leakage at the weld.

Fourth, to ensure the size of the barrel body and the size of the bottom cover.

The barrel flanging process of our factory is completed by the barrel joint forming machine. Due to limit failure or oil pressure fluctuations, sometimes insufficient flanging occurs. After the barrel is sealed, the airtightness is not up to standard. Therefore, it should be ensured that the size of the flange of the barrel meets the process requirements at all times. When equipment failure occurs and the flange size is affected, equipment failure should be eliminated in time. Whether the process size of the bottom cover of the bucket is accurate or not affects the airtightness of the bucket, so it should be guaranteed by certain means.

The above is some experience of our factory to ensure the quality of sealing curl in the production of 200 litre open calcium carbide barrel. We have achieved some results, but there are still some problems. For example, the feeding of the sealing ring of the automatic sealing machine of our factory adopts the hydraulic system. The feed speed cannot be set as before the cam feeding system, and the quality of the curling edge is certain. The impact should be improved in future work.
